About us

Dharma Drum London, operating under the name of London Chan Meditation (LCM), is a UK Registered Charity (Registration Number 1200733) and an affiliate of Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association (DDMBA).

LCM is a community of practitioners dedicated to uncovering the true nature of our existence through Chan Buddhist approach and methods. We seek to recognise, accept, and transform habitual patterns and tendencies that cause suffering to ourselves and others. We view such transformation, along with the wisdom and compassion it brings, as essential for joyful existence and positive change to ourselves, our close circle and society.

As a volunteer-run organisation, we welcome people from all backgrounds. We interpret Chan Buddhist teachings with consideration of the local context and a pragmatic view of improving our daily life.  We are committed to compassion, we value critical thinking and deep questions as essential tools for exploring and practicing Chan. We are open for everyone willing to learn and practice with us.
