The London Chan Meditation (LCM) is a UK not-for-profit organisation, a branch under the Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association (DDMBA).
We offer meditation workshops, mindfulness classes, public lectures, practice meet-ups, retreats. Our programs are donation based and are open to anyone who is interested, irrespective religious affiliations or race. All are welcome!
Our aim is to help people find freedom and peace within themselves through the teachings of the Dharma Drum Lineage of Chan Buddhism. The Dharma Drum Lineage of Chan was founded by the late Chan Master Sheng Yen (1931-2009), who was one of the most respected Buddhist clerics of our time.
Who We Are
We are a group of practitioners from all walks of life from university lecturers, to business people, to artists, to lawyers, and retirees. Our love of meditation has brought us together, and the LCM is our joint venture to support one another and to benefit everyone through meditation. All are welcome to join us.
The LCM originated in August 2010 as a small group of Chan practitioners and volunteers under the leadership of Ms. Orca Liew. Supported by the various Dharma Drum Lineage monastic and lay teachers, the group held annual meditation classes, retreats, and other programs. In 2020, Orca graciously stepped down as the leader and our group continued with a new name, London Chan Meditation, DDMBA.
Our organisation and programmes run entirely on donations. All of our programmes are open to everyone, and no fees are required to participate. For those who are able, please give us some support on a one-off or monthly basis.
