Our Organisation
The London Chan Meditation (LCM) is a UK not-for-profit organisation, an affiliate of the Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association (DDMBA). LCM is run by a managing committee consisting of core volunteers.
Our Intentions
Taking the teachings of the Dharma Drum Lineage of Chan Buddhism founded by the late Chan Master Sheng Yen (1931-2009), the LCM intentions are:
– Integrating Chan (Zen) teachings and meditation practice into everyday life.
– To support one another and organically grow as a multicultural community being inclusive of all walks of life and backgrounds.
– Through knowledge of self-nature, cultivate wisdom to serve the benefit of all.
Our Activities
We offer meditation instructions, Dharma talks from our teachers, reading club, public lectures, practice meetups, retreats and informal social gatherings. Our programs are donation-based and are open to anyone who is interested, irrespective of religious affiliations or race. All are welcome!
Our History
The LCM originated in August 2010 as a small group of Chan practitioners and volunteers under the leadership of Ms Orca Liew. Supported by the various Dharma Drum Lineage monastic and lay teachers, the group held annual meditation classes, retreats, and other programs. In 2020, Orca graciously stepped down as the leader and our group continued with a new name, London Chan Meditation, DDMBA.
